Laveno is a place which offers the possibility of breathtaking excursions in natural surroundings and of quiet and relaxing itineraries among varied and important artistic places.
The panoramic terrace of Mount Sasso del Ferro, (1062 m) can be reached with a convenient cable car from the town, and offers the visitor a magnificent view stretching from the gulf of Stresa to the massif of Monte Rosa. From Sasso del Ferro there are many recommended walks among the surrounding woods and valleys. For the more enterprising visitor the Sasso del Ferro is the launching point for paragliding and hang-gliders; the flying school is in Laveno.
