According to the legend The Eremo of Santa Caterina was built in 1170, when a rich merchant Alberto dei Bisozzi, survived to a shipwreck thanks to Santa Caterina , decided to become an hermit in honor of his saving and also build a chapel with her name. From the monastery , a place of meditation and prayer, you can see Borromeo’s Islands, famous archipelago of the Lake Maggiore.
